BRUGAL AÑEJO

During the second half of the nineteenth century , Andrés Brugal Montaner, a Spanish citizen who had emigrated from Sitges (Barcelona ) to Santiago de Cuba , decided to move to the Dominican Republic to take up residence in Puerto Plata. While in Cuba , Andres gained experience in the manufacture of rum and , based on that experience , he founded Brugal & Co. in Puerto Plata in 1888 (the date that names of the varieties of the brand) .
